During this phase of alchemy, after the separation of the opposites, a new integration and complete purification occurs. It is the phase that follows the nigredo, and is called whitening or the white work, it corresponds to a purely spiritual field, it speaks of the resurrection and of certain elevated states of consciousness.

The albedo is the moment in which the opposites are consciously integrated, where the Anima (eternal feminine in men) and the Animus (eternal masculine in women) are discovered.

After the albedo phase would be the citrinitas and the rubedo, which end the alchemical work generating the Philosopher’s Stone.
