Description

Taoist watercolor

Archetypal Taoist watercolor Microcosm. Abstract painting, spiritual art. With symbolic and philosophical content. Original watercolor by Antonio García Calvente

The square in Taoism is part of the square, triangle, circle scheme. It is a sequence that arises in Sengai calligraphy, but it is also in Taoist principles and has many more similarities with alchemical symbolism than is believed.

The three figures together symbolize the universe, life, death, the origin, the end, the full and the empty.

The circle is the perpetual, the eternal. from there all creatures arise.

The triangle is the principle that completes the circle. It is the circle manifesting and generating.

The square is generated from the triangle, which is the ten thousand beings, the perfect mutation.

Tao engenders one, one engenders two, two engenders three, three engenders ten thousand beings.
