They are abstract paintings, with original symbolic and philosophical content by Antonio García Calvente.

They are representations of the structure of the mind from a meditative state. The microcosm is the world of each one, the inner mind, the inner space.

Microcosm

Microcosm is a series of watercolors that describe a journey towards consciousness, where the experience of order and chaos, the union of consciousness and unconsciousness, light and darkness, is captured with subjectivity, harmony and balance.

The vision is focused on the structures of the psyche that C. G. Jung proposes, from a personal transforming process of the «sacrificium intellectus», from which a meditation originates to observe the personal and collective unconscious from the front. The sacrifice of the intellect, Carl Gustav Jung describes it as the essential process to embark on a journey towards the subjective and unconscious world, in order to be able to cross and break mental barriers and achieve illumination of the unconscious.

The personal transforming process of the sacrifice of the intellect and reason leads one to find oneself and get rid of what is withered.

The macrocosm refers to the universe in its entirety, while the microcosm is the part of personal reality, as a reflection of the macrocosm. No human can caress or glimpse the macrocosm, but can dream of it, through the superconscious, or even imagine it when observing the microcosm with full consciousness.

The macrocosm and the microcosm, silence, the primal manifestation, come to intermingle in pure and watery colors that reflect an instantaneous vision. It is not about color or shape here, but about an instant of Taoist experience where, without saying anything, without being anything, one tries to caress the moment. In these paintings he represents the fundamental philosophy of Taoism, which surrenders to the leaf that falls from the tree in autumn and embraces the void.

The following paintings capture the spirit of this search and the encounter with oneself.

Sacrificium intellectus

The vision in the Sacrificium intellectus watercolors is centered on the archetypal structures that Carl Gustav Jung proposes, in a personal process: “sacrificium intellectus”, from which a meditation originates to observe the personal and collective unconscious head-on.
